A Tribute

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

We have made it back from our week-long trip to Vancouver. We had a beneficial time and met a lot of wonderful people and it did not rain even once while we were there! We will give a more specific update in the days to come. But for now, I want to give a tribute to my Grandma.

On our first day of driving to Vancouver, I received some sad news that my grandma was in the hospital and not expected to make it through the day. And it turned out that she only lived a couple more hours. But the good news is that she is now truly living in heaven for all eternity because she believed that Jesus is Lord and that He died in her place. That’s why she is in heaven and I cannot wait to see her again someday. She was a lovely woman; devoted wife; proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; avid sports fan; servant; quick-witted and hilarious, and all around “fun” lady with a sparkle in her eyes.

This picture sums her up pretty well:

Happy New Year, sort of.

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

You know you live in a small town when…

the first baby of the New Year is born on January 10th; not on the first day of the year or even in the first week of the year.

No kidding. That’s funny news for a big city girl like me (as in “big city” girl, not big “city girl”). And, this “New Year’s” baby made the front page of the paper, too.

Small towns have such charm, yes?

Evan’s first keyboarding lesson

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

Since one of Evan’s deepest desires is to bang on the keyboard, Daddy decided to give him a little lesson.

Evan Typing

This is what he typed…well, most of it, at least.

the name of the Lord is to be praised.” Psalm 113:3

Remember Him today…WHO He is, all He has done, and all the many ways He has blessed us!

Evan and Socks

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

This kid is funny…I don’t know what Evan’s thing is with taking off his socks.

When he wakes up in the morning or from his nap in the afternoon, he inevitably removes them and holds them (one in one hand, one in the other) for a while.

Of course, they generally end up somewhere in the living room. And there’s Evan. Bare-footed in Canada. That’s not a good combination.

However, he seems to be handling the cold better than Suzanne and me. We choose to stay inside as much as possible when it’s cold, but when opportunity knocks for Evan to go outside, he’s right there saying, “Outigh! Outigh!” That’s ‘outside’ in 21-month-old language. The cold doesn’t seem to affect him at all. As a matter of fact, there are lots of things that don’t seem to affect him at all. Oh, to be a kid again. They are amazing little creatures, aren’t they?
