The Church of Oprah
April 7th, 2008 by SuzanneBy now, you have probably heard about the hype surrounding Oprah and her statements regarding spirituality. I can’t say that I’m too surprised - she has been treachorously misguided for a long time now, but the video (below) is truly alarming. The sway that she has over people all across the globe is terrifying when it comes to matters such as these. What makes it difficult for many people to second-guess Oprah is that everything else she does seems to be “good.” She advocates love, kindness, goodness and peace. While these are principles found in the Bible, we must be on guard for anything that does not point us to Christ. (1 John 4:1-6):
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.”
Fellow believers, if ever there was a time to study God’s Word and be on our knees, it is now.

Thank you Suzanne, for posting this. I had heard about it but I hadn’t seen the video. It’s terrible how messed up people are and how little the world understands. You are so right, and I agree wholeheartedly with your appeal to study God’s word and be faithful in prayer. What lost and lonely people surround us!

I too believe that there is only one way and it is thru Jesus Christ. He would not have suffered and died such a horrible death if there were other paths to take. I know that there are many religious faiths and I believe those faiths that started on your knees asking Jesus to forgive you and come into your heart as your Lord and Savior and to be your helper each and every day, those are the faiths that will get you to Heaven someday.

A friend at church just sent this to me…it’s so sad how many people are being misled by this. =-(

I think it is very important for us to keep in mind that there are plenty of people doing God’s work without any opportunity of knowing Jesus Christ. I also think it is important to keep in mind that it is very difficult to contemplate spirituality when you are without a home or any presence of mind because of your circumstances, therefore I would like to personally communicate that I am very happy there are people like Oprah and so many others who with a great amount of tolerance and action and with a very necessary ability not to islolate themselves from people who are different than themselves. They are making it possible for others to live a life of spiritual contemplation and outreach without forcing their own beliefs on them - it seems to me Oprah was speaking about a freedom to believe what you what you want to believe and that freedom to believe includes Christianity - I would be hesitant to call the many people who have committed themselves to the service of others the antichrist - I would be extremely hesitant to refer to anyone who devotes their life to service the spirit of the antichrist in the presence of Jesus - I think it would be a shorter path to heaven for someone like Oprah then for someone who sits in a church pew for 50 years contemplating their own righteousness.

In response to Achlee’s——- “I think it would be a shorter path to heaven for someone like Oprah then for someone who sits in a church pew for 50 years contemplating their own righteousness.”
Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.
Actually, people who are in dire circumstances are very willing to contemplate their spirituality. I have had many friends and acquaintances who have devoted their lives to serve the precious souls of third world countries, helping them with their physical needs and guiding them to knowledge of the Lord Jesus. None of them “force their beliefs” on anyone. That is what Hollywood and the liberal media would love for you to believe. They live and work with them side by side, day by day.
These faithful Christian Missionaries are very tolerant of different cultures. In fact, many live their whole lives in villages and communities patiently doing the Lord’s work……and without worldwide recognition and without adoring fans….and on top of all that…..on a very limited budget. No private jets, no designer clothes, no private chef, no best seller books. limited medical care. Oprah goes home to luxury every night.
I AM thankful that there are people like Oprah to give money to help those in need. But as Suzanne so perfectly said, Oprah is “treacherously misguided”.
