My friend Amy tagged me! I haven’t done one of these in a while, so here we go…

7 Random Things About Me:

1) I first got my nickname “Suz” in high school when a friend didn’t believe that I didn’t have a middle name. So, I told her that my first name was Suz and my middle name Anne. People have called me Suz ever since.

2) I’ve never been in a car accident (thank you , Lord), but I fell out of the car when I was 3 or 4 years old. The thing was, the car was moving – we were driving on the access road to the highway. I distinctly remember playing with my seat belt, then playing with the door handle, and then suddenly being on my hands and knees in the middle of the road. Scary Larry! The good Lord was watching over me! Automobile safety has come a long way since then.

3) My great grandmother was a cook for the Pope.

4) I don’t really enjoy cleaning, but I can’t stand it when my house is messy. Sometimes, though, I get in “OCD cleaning mode” and I can’t stop cleaning until everything on my list is checked off. I also really enjoy walking down the cleaning product aisle and trying new cleaning supplies.

5) I really like to-do lists. More so, I like crossing things off of my list. I’ll often do something that’s not on my list and then write it on my list just so I can cross it off.

6) I am a creative and artistic person in an uncreative person’s body. I love to make things – I’ve done some sewing, painting, cake decorating, and scrapbooking. It’s a good thing that lots of other people are creative and have good ideas, because my ideas never turn out as cool as they seem in my head.

7) I’m a bit of a germophobe. I carry hand sanitizer with me at all times. I despise public restrooms, and I wash my hands first thing when I get home from the store – those carts are nasty! I cringe a little those mornings at church when they tell you to greet the people around you, because this always leads to lots of hand shaking of people I don’t know. After I shake all of those hands, I can’t help but think about the germs that are on my hand, and I might even discreetly pull out my hand sanitizer. It’s nothing personal, I’m just a little obsessive compulsive or something. I also have a hard time at hotels. I can’t help but think of all of the people who have slept in the bed before me. I should never have watched those Dateline episodes that took samples from the bedding in various hotels. The results were SICK, I tell ya.

Side note – I’m not like this with my kids. It does not bother me if they put dirt or leaves in their mouths or eat something off of the floor.

Additional side note – I have lots of quirks! We can still be friends. Just don’t shake my hand. ;) Just kidding.

*Edited to add: I’m tagging, Leslie, Robin, Carly, Aimee, and Jennifer.

    Suz,

Actually, you were only about two when you fell out of the car. Your guardian angel was definitely watching over you.

Your middle name can be “Monk.” You may not have ever watched the show, but talk about OCD — oh my goodness! One of my favorite TV shows.

I also like to make lists. Makes me feel like I’ve at least accomplished something. I have to have a grocery list when I go to the store, even if it’s only 2 or 3 items. I think that’s because my memory is going –

    Love,

    Mom

  2. I LIKE MAKING LISTS TOO…It’s like we’re all related or something. It makes me feel organized and like mom said, like I accomplished something.

  3. Three things. 1) I share your love for cleaning products and lists. I’m sure that’s no surprise to you. 2) Your germophobe description reminds me of Jim ~ especially the shaking hands at church part! He started using hand sanitizer and talking about germs alot once we started having kiddos. 3) You are a super-creative in a super-creative’s body. No question about that!

I sure can relate to being a germophobe. Working in a hospital, I’ve noticed I wash my hands about once an hour when I’m at work and use hand sanitizer some in between. On more than one occassion, I’ve been asked if I was a doctor in public bathrooms, when I ask why they think I’m a doctor, they reply, “just the way you are washing your hands”. They probably watch too much TV.

Give Evan and Maren a hug and kiss for me.

  5. I laughed when I read the part where you will do something that’s not on your list but then you write it on your list so you can cross it off. I do the same thing!
And I’ve got to say, I’m glad Papa isn’t so picky at home! I’d be in trouble!

  6. thanks for the tag…i would do it only i actually got tagged with a similar thing a while back. it’s basically the same as yours just has one less random thing to list…so here’s a link to it:
