The Cake
Jan 10
When I asked our sweet girl what kind of cake she wanted for her birthday, she replied, “A pink princess cake!” (Well, she says “pruncess” instead of princess, but I don’t correct her). Knowing that we had a very full weekend ahead with no time for an elaborate cake, I resorted to pruncess cupcake liners and toppers and a very pink, very girly cake. Maybe an elaborate castle cake will happen next year. Maybe.
I knew the instant that I saw this cake over a year ago that it would be perfect for my girly-girl. But then I saw a chocolate and strawberry cake and knew it was “the one.” I used a combination of those two recipes to make one of the most delightful cakes we’ve ever had. Even my dad, who is not typically a big chocolate lover, said this cake was perfect. The frosting makes this cake with its silky, super light and not-too-sweet goodness.
The ruffling literally took 10 minutes, including refilling the piping bag a few times, although I was running out of time and would have been a bit more precise if I could have. I will definitely make this cake again. It was lovely and delicious!

Lovely, delicious and beautiful. A cake absolutely fit for a princess. You did an amazing job, Suz!
Well, thank ya! I’m glad you were here for the party.
What an awesome princess cake Suz! I love the pretty ruffles. Now I want a slice…or two!
Thanks, Les! Come on over!
