Spring fling around here means you get your snow shovel, some snow (found in the backyard), and a willing participant, and then you fling snow all over them.

My children have never dressed up for Halloween. They think Santa says, “Ha Ha Ha.” And they don’t know much of the Easter Bunny. But we have dyed Easter eggs and hunted for them and we put up our Christmas tree every year the weekend after Thanksgiving, among other things. I don’t have a problem with those things – except the Easter bunny. I was horrified of larger than life costumes as a kid. Horrified. Some people are okay with standing in line at the mall to have their child sit on Santa’s lap, or maybe even the Easter bunny’s lap *Shudder*. I am not one of those people.

We can hardly believe we have a six year old! Today is big E’s birthday, and we thank the Lord for our sweet boy. We never could have imagined what life with E would hold when brought him home from the hospital six years ago. As tough as it is to raise him (can you say STRONG WILLED – to the extreme), we can’t help but laugh at the end of the day when we think of some of his antics.

Last week, our girl had to get a myringotomy, also known as getting tubes in her ears. She has had frequent ear infections, but the main concern was hearing loss due to fluid build-up in her ears. Her big brother had the same issues and had the procedure done a couple of months ago. When we asked him to help his sister know what to expect at the hospital, he said, “It’s gonna’ be SO FUN!”

Around these parts, dressing in layers is a must, year round. Even though we spend most of our time being cold and adding more layers, there is one member of our family that manages to get hot, even when it’s -25 outside. It’s the girl.
